Good Morning, Good Night
Acrylic on Canvan (2016)
Every day, I feel like I can't speak and really want to say something to you, but I don't know how to say it and don't know what to say, so I only know how to say "Good morning" and "Good night" to you. At that time, I was in a cold war with my boyfriend, feeling very bad. In my confused mind, there were only two words, "Good morning" and "Good night," because I thought that if we didn't communicate with each other during the cold war, everything would end. But I didn't know what else I could say besides these two words
A Beginning of "Thinking" Extension
After half a year's time, this series of works made me obsessed with the phrase "good morning, good night," and I began to think about the meaning of this phrase, which led me to create another work, "Thinking." Initially, I kept asking myself why I felt that "good morning, good night" was so important. It was because I wanted to talk to "people" but I didn't know how to start. So, I used the most basic greeting as a bridge. Ultimately, the conclusion I arrived at was that I wanted to communicate with "people." But what is communication exactly? In my understanding, communication requires thinking in the mind and then conveying the message to "people." The other person's brain receives the message, thinks about it, and repeats the same process. This process is called "communication." Through this thought process, I came up with an idea: "Instead of thinking so much, it would be better if communication/thinking could be visible." It was this sentence that officially started the creation process of "Thinking.".
